Kempton Park 21st October 2020

Kempton Park 21st October 2020

Thought it about time to run through an evening racecard, let’s get stuck in and see what we can find. Plenty of novice stakes and only 3 handicaps which look tricky as ever. As a NAP I will put up Invincible Larne 7.45 could be the one to go off at decent odds.

16.10  Class 5 Novice Stakes 3  -5 Yr Old  1m 4f

According to the official ratings the three that should be looked at in detail are Galahad Threepwood (ran well at big prices at Chelmsford and Lingfield), Man Of Light (best was a fifth at Wolverhampton) and Noble Masquerade (has been running in class 2 and 3  turf handicaps).  I had Cloud Thunder marked down as well in when he ran inhandicaps so a little surprised to see another level stakes race as the form of the Newbury race (12/6/20) has worked out very well, good draw today too.  Others to note at Keane’s Kingdom (A Watson is in form) and FTO Ibiza (R Charlton good record with FT starters 11%.

Selection Galahad Threepwood  (5/1) Next Best Ibiza  (7/2)

16.40  Class 6 Nursery Handicap 2 Yr Old  6f

Peerless is the obvious starting point with a last time win at Wolverhampton however that was over 5f (has been placed over 6f) and has a 6lb hike in the weights, drawn wide today too. Relative Choice raced here in September however had the 12 stall so that can be ignored, ran OK at Chelmsford but the next time at Wolves was drawn 11. Grey Sparkle is a FTH entry from C Hills who is in good form as is K O’Neill good FTH record is good too 4/22.

Selection Grey Sparkle (4/1) Next Best:  Relative Choice  (6/1)

17.15 Class 5 Fillies Novice Stakes 2 Yr Old  7f

Half the field are unraced and include debutants from the Appleby, Palmer, Varian, Haggas and Johnston yards all who do well with FT 2 Year starters. C Appleby is 30% at Kempton for his FT 2 Yr olds and runs Alsephina. Of those with form Portfolio was beaten a neck here in September and was given a 97 RPR. Subtle Beauty ran well at Newmarket and ran that in a decent time in Soft ground.

Selection Alsephina  (4/1)  Next Best Portfolio (3/1)

17.45 Class 5 Fillies Novice Stakes 2 Yr Old  7f

Less quality on show in this division although C Appleby has Looktotherainbow who ran at Chelmsford and Newmarket gained a decent RPR and TS last time. Allerby ran at Salisbury when 40/1 on debut finishing 14 lengths behind Lady Hayes. Isola Rossa could be of interest from those unraced she runs for the J  Fanshawe yard with O Murphy aboard, drawn wide however.

Selection Looktotherainbow (5/4) Next Best Isola Rossa (10/1)

18.15 Class 5 Novice Stakes 2 Yr  Old  7f

Saeiqa has been running in some much better races than this, a Group 2 and a Listed race both at Ascot and should be hard to beat here.  Quintillus is of interest after a decent effort at Newmarket last month when BF. Rommel is a winner over 7f at Lingfield as second in a similar event last time at Chelmsford notably O Murphy is aboard.

Selection Saeiqa  (4/6) Next Best Quintillus  (10/3)

18.45 Class 5 Novice Stakes 2 Yr  Old  7f

Noble Dynasty was sold for 3.6Mgns and on debut ran second of 10 at Newmarket when 5/2F looked sure to improve on that run.  Athers ran well OK on debut but failed to reproduce next time out in a Class 3 event at York. Rifleman is another that needs to be forgiven a poor debut especially as J Gosden trains.

Selection Noble Dynasty (5/4) Next Best Rifleman (4/1)

19.15 Class 4 Handicap  3 Yr Old +   7f

Areehaa trained by Sir M Stoute runs in her second handicap having been second at Newmarket on Heavy no rise in handicap mark for that effort, Sir Michael does well with his second handicap starters. Sir Michael also runs Clinician and could well have the 1,2 after a decent win at Wolves (up 5lbs for that). Dancing Feet was favourite at Wolves and ran 7th behind Clinician slowly away that day and notably Hollie Doyle is back aboard. Dancing Feet has winning course form too.  Serenading from the J Fanshawe yard (who has a great record here) is on a roll winning two races at Newcastle looks on the improve and cannot be ignored here however is up 10lbs.

Selection Dancing Feet (6/1) Next Best Clinician (9/2)

19.45 Class 5 Handicap 3 Yr Old+   6f

Brenner Pass heads the weights after some decent efforts over the last few months, now up a further 8lbs but does retain the services of F Marsh who needs one more winner to lose his claim. Also of interest is Jonny Reb who looked like the winner last time until Kodiellen just got up on the line.  However the selection is Invincible Larne who ran well on the unfavoured Chelmsford rail interestingly C Fallon now takes over from long standing jockey P Cosgrave.

Selection Invincible Larne (8/1)  Next Best Brenner Pass  (7/2)

20.15 Class 6 Handicap 3 Yr Old +  6f

The 9th race on the card and as with any Class 6 event here a tricky puzzle. Secret Treaties looks a good thing, recent winner and likely pace angle but there is a snag, she has never won over 6f 0/4 with a placed effort here in early October (50/1) up 4lbs for latest win. Top weight Bold Decision could be an alternative and has two good runs here over 6 and 7 furlongs. Bottom weight Mercers is another that more often runs at Lingfield but does have a good record at Kempton 2/10 2 placed efforts now down to a winning mark 47 today (won off 51).

Selection Mercers (12/1)  Next Best Bold Decision (8/1)
