Kempton Park 18th September 2020

Quite a few winners on Wednesday scattered about the selections and the Next Bests however the SPs weren’t great. Nine races again today so if you are having an interest hopefully some of the below will assist you. Good luck !

16.00  Class 5 Novice Stakes 3 Yr Old +  6f

There are two obvious starting points here Recall The Show and Sky Storm who finished 2nd and 3rd  in the same race on the AW at Lingfield. There’s ½ length between them on the last run but Sky Storm is less exposed and has her third run today, was off a 307 day lay off last time. E Walker has a good record with second starters he runs Amniarix. C Banham does well with new starters often at big prices she has Kit’s Allanah. Finally T Ward does well with horses off a break Valentine Blue is his runner.

Selection Sky Storm (13/8) Next Best Recall The Show (7/4)

16.35  Class 5 Novice Stakes 3 Yr Old +  6f

Second division and at first glance Sweet Joanna looks the likely selection. R Fahey has a poor record at Kempton (4% over the last 5 years) so it may pay to look elsewhere. E Walker has another second time starter Blue Dawn and has L Morris down to ride (17% for TJ Combo) she ran ok at Lingfield on debut and showed some promise. Daleelaty runs for O Burrows who does well at Kempton (17% for the last 5 years but another who’s yard is only running at 7% SR at the moment. H Main has her yard in good form 21% over the last two weeks and runs Island Warrior first time after a wind op and now wearing a tongue tie reasonable place record for horses off a 60 day + lay off.

Selection Blue Dawn (5/1) Next Best:  Island Warrior (12/1)

17.10 Class 6 Nursery Handicap 2 Yr Old  7f

As with Wednesday’s nursery, previous winners are thin on the ground. None on the runners have been placed at Kempton but Bagara (Drawn 1), Full Marks (5) Alpine Spring (6) and Daphne May (11) have placed over 7f. Preference is for those drawn low. Those with handicap form that appeal are Bagara beaten fav at Sandown, Host badly drawn over 5f at Sandown last time and Sayifyouwill drops in class for second handicap run. Trainers with decent FTH records are: Full Marks (Sir M Prescott); Light Make Up (M Botti) and Dark Alibi (J Osborne).  Light Make Up  appeals most now upped in trip and rated 62 with a TJ combo of 15%. Bagara  from stall 1 also looks of interest stable going well although TJ combo not great.

Selection Light Make Up (11/4)  Next Best Bagara   (5/1)

17.40 Class 5 Handicap 3 Yr  Old +  7f

Low numbers win 10%, mid 8% and low 5%, so  worth concentrating on those drawn lower, even better is that Johnny Reb drawn 3 likes to make the pace, decent record at Kempton  1 win and 2 placed efforts from 4 runs back over 7f after last times 6f run. Expect plenty of support for Sir M Stoute’s Anna of Lorraine who ran well here over a mile bouncing back after poor handicap debut at Haydock, Louis Stewart rides and is 14% for the stable (he is 9% overall). The other of interest is Performance Point‘s stable in good heart and do well at KP. 27% for last month and 21% for the last year. 15% overall. Ran well when fancied here on her handicap bow only up a pound for that, drawn in 6 of 13.

Selection Johnny Reb (10/3) Next Best Performance Point  (4/1)

18.10 Class 5 Handicap 3 Yr  Old +  7f

While we have pointed out that those lower drawn have the better chance Chloellie in stall 11 could run well of the 14 runs at Kempton she has been drawn in double figures twice and both times managed to place at 9/1 and 5/1. Won last time at Sandown (only win on turf) and up 4lbs,  has won off 68 in Jan 2019. 66 today.  Cape Greco run  style may suit this race from stall 4 and George Rook has a decent combo for G Kellaway (17%).  Well fancied last time with 7lb claimer aboard at Southwell.  Has run here just the once when 3rd over 8f. Won at Lingfield, Wolves and Southwell off marks of 55, 59 and 64. Runs off 65 today.

Selection Chloellie (4/1) Next Best Cape Greco  (11/2)

18.40 Class 5  Nov Stakes  3 Yr  Old +   1m 4f

Just 6 runners in this with two last time winners, Fiesta De Vega and Moving Light, with the other 4 not having a great deal of form or potential to their names.  Moving Light looked very good winning at Leicester although the time of the race was not great and as we know S B Suroor does very well here 31% over the last year, 21% over the last 5m years.

Selection Moving Light (4/6) Next Best Fiesta De Vega  (6/5)

19.15 Class 4 Handicap 3 Yr  Old +  2m

As with many 2 mile events here quite a few hurdlers can be seen in the field. Seaport (watch those bets there’s a Seaborn in the field)  has a reasonable record at Kempton placed on both starts off marks of 87 and 71.  Runs off 72 today.  The other that has potential is H Dunlop’s  Gentleman At Arms  runs in his third ever handicap after running OK at Leicester last time, two decent runs on the AW in maidens before that made debut at Kempton, goes from 12f on last start to 16f today.

Selection Seaport (7/1) Next Best Gentleman At Arms (16/1)

19.45 Class 5 Handicap 3 Yr  Old +  1m 3f

Lots of question marks about these, N Henderson has a good record here (25% over the last 5 years) is in good heart 3/7 in last 14 and 7/21 in the last 30 days. Also does well with horses off a 60 + day layoff 24%.  He runs Fraser Island who ran for Mark Johnston winning off 77 and was 3rd on only AW start. Dream With Me is with Mark Johnston another with a good record at KP. Beaten favourite at Pontefract last time so must be showing something 4th run in an handicap.  Also keep an eye on Wimpole Hall jockey Gaia Boni is very capable and although not given many rides has a great record 4/18 22% over the last year and is 4/14 28% for W Jarvis.

Selection Fraser Island (4/1)  Next Best Dream With Me  (9/2)

20.15 Class 6 Handicap 3 Yr  Old +  1m

The 9th race on the card and as with any Class 6 event here a tricky puzzle. Having said that Run After Genesis appeals on a number of fronts, has run round here twice one win and one placed effort and back to a mark of 63 (won off 60 and placed off 65). Stable going well 2/5 in the last 14 days, drops in class today, didn’t have the best of runs last time either (tonight second run off a layoff). Has a reasonable TJ Combom, jockey 3/23 in the last year 13%  (8% overall SR).  On the downside he is drawn 11.  Takeonefortheteam is the other to highlight runs well here 3/7 all over CD. Ran well here on latest start won here in June off 63 today 65.

Selection Run After Genesis (10/1)  Next Best Takeonefortheteam (6/1)
